The University of Sri Jayewardenepura has embarked on a significant collaboration by formalizing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the MAS Innovation Unit of MAS Holdings, marking a pivotal step towards industrial innovation and collaborative research. This partnership aims to drive innovation within the apparel industry and foster projects tailored to meet local industry needs.
By promoting innovation, facilitating internships, industry visits, and providing employment opportunities for undergraduates, the MoU seeks to bridge the gap between academia and industry, equipping students with practical skills. Through shared expertise, both parties aim to create a conducive environment for innovation and growth, positioning Sri Lanka as a hub for technological advancement.
Senior Prof. Pathmalal M. Manage, Vice Chancellor of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, and Prof. Prasad Jayaweera, Dean of the Faculty of Computing at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura signed the MoU on behalf of the University. Representing MAS Innovation (Private) Limited Mr. Ranil Vitarana, CEO/Director, and Mr. Suren Fernando, Director are set to sign on behalf of their organization.
Mr. Hasitha Jayatilake, Project Manager at MAS Innovation (Private) Limited; Mr. Kanishka De Silva, Technology Entrepreneur at MAS Innovation (Private) Limited; Dr. Chameera Udawattha, Director of USJ Tech Transfer (UBL Cell) at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura along with other distinguished staff members from various faculties, witnessed this grand venture.
