The Faculty of Computing, University of Sri Jayewardenepura (USJ), has signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with HUTCH, a leading telecommunication service provider in Sri Lanka, to strengthen the industry readiness of its undergraduates.
The ceremonial signing took place on 24th September 2025, marking the beginning of a strategic collaboration aimed at bridging the gap between academic learning and real-world ICT practices.
Through this partnership, undergraduates specializing in Information Technology will gain hands-on exposure to industry-driven domains such as ERP systems, network infrastructure, data analytics, and ICT operations. The initiative will feature:
- Knowledge-sharing sessions conducted by HUTCH professionals
- Guided visits to HUTCH data centres to experience enterprise ICT environments firsthand
- Career development programs designed to enhance employability and industry relevance
Commenting on the significance of the collaboration, Senior Prof. Pathmalal M. Manage, Vice Chancellor of USJ, stated that this MoU represents a progressive step in delivering education that is both academically rigorous and industry-relevant.
This partnership reinforces the Faculty of Computing’s commitment to producing globally competitive graduates while contributing to Sri Lanka’s digital transformation journey.
