The Faculty of Computing, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, successfully hosted the 1st Jayewardenepura Computing Symposium (JCoS) 2026 on 20 May 2026, marking a significant milestone in the Faculty’s commitment to advancing research, innovation, and academic collaboration in the field of computing.
The symposium provided a vibrant platform for researchers, academics, industry professionals, and students to present and discuss current research findings, emerging technologies, and innovative solutions to contemporary computing challenges.
The event featured keynote addresses by Prof. Saman Muthukumarana, Head of the Department of Statistics at the University of Manitoba, Canada, and Mr. Heshan Karunananthne, President of the Computer Society of Sri Lanka (CSSL). Their presentations offered valuable insights into current developments in academia and industry, fostering meaningful discussions among participants.
JCoS 2026 attracted research contributions from a diverse community of scholars and practitioners, facilitating knowledge exchange and strengthening connections between academia and industry. The symposium also highlighted the Faculty’s ongoing efforts to promote a culture of research excellence and innovation.
